ONLINE COACHING CLASSES

How It Works

Overview:

When you request to join the class you will be asked to fill out a form with your availability as well as class schedule preferences. The class schedule shown on the website includes all classes that will run during that six-week session. Steven will then review the applicants and try to assign everyone to a class that best works with the schedule. New sessions will be posted before the end of the previous session, and you will be asked to sign up and pay for the session in the same way.

Requirements:

  • Know the basics and intermediate chess strategy
We recommend the completion of our beginner and intermediate courses.

  • Have a computer with a camera and microphone or have an IPad.

  • Have a free Lichess.org account.

Steps to Join/Renew Your Class:

  • Click "Book Now" on this page.

  • Prior to the first class, the student will be expected to make a free Lichess.org account.

  • The contact email will receive a Zoom link prior to the first class that the student will use to join. We ask that you accept the invite and add a reminder to your calendar.

  • After the end of the six-week session, participants will be asked to sign up for the next session in the same way.

FAQ

Why do I need a Lichess account?

Lichess.org is a free and donation-based chess website with a large and vibrant chess community. It is used for interactive class demonstrations and the weekly Chess Wizz member tournaments. Students will be playing fellow students as well as other Lichess players of the same skill level as we teach them.

I see lots of dates per week on the booking calendar. Will my student attend all of them?

No. Your student's classes will be held at the same time on the same day once per week. The dates on the calendar represent all the available options.

What happens if I need to miss a day? Can I make up the class?

If you are not going to be able to attend class, we ask that you email Steven to tell him. Whether you can join another class that week to make up the session is not guaranteed and will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Will I be automatically signed up for the next session?

No. You will have to sign up for each six-week session. However, if you are staying in the same spot on the schedule, you will be guaranteed a spot in the next session. If you need to switch times or days, you will be given preference over new members.

Can I purchase multiple sessions at once, or do you have a subscription service?

No. At this time we do not have a membership program, packages, or subscription service.
